{"id":43,"date":"2011-04-09T19:40:48","date_gmt":"2011-04-09T19:40:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bzzwords.com\/cece\/?p=43"},"modified":"2011-04-23T04:53:11","modified_gmt":"2011-04-23T04:53:11","slug":"how-popsicles-were-invented","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bzzwords.com\/cece\/?p=43","title":{"rendered":"How Popsicles Were Invented"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Believe it or not, popsicles were invented in 1905 by eleven-year-old \u00a0Frank Epperson. \u00a0He left his soda outside on a cold night with a stirring stick in it.\u00a0 When he found it later, he discovered it was frozen and that it still tasted good!\u00a0 He named it the &#8220;Epsicle.&#8221; \u00a0It soon became a hit with his friends.\u00a0 His children changed the name to &#8220;popsicle.&#8221;\u00a0 In 1923 he applied for a patent, and in 1925 he sold the rights to the Joe Lowe Company.<\/p>\n<p>Try it on your own!<\/p>\n<p>You will need:<\/p>\n<p>Juice, pop, or anything else of that nature, toothpicks or popsicle sticks,\u00a0an ice tray, and tin foil.<\/p>\n<p>1. Fill the ice tray sections with liquid.<\/p>\n<p>2. Cover with\u00a0tin foil.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>3. Poke a toothpick or popsicle stick\u00a0through the tin foil in the middle of each section.<\/p>\n<p>4.
